u-fab - ugliest fabric contest

We know that many of you collect and stash fabric like it's fine wine. However unlike wine many of those "beautiful" textiles that you just had to have at the time don't age so well. So were calling all you fabric hoarders to dig through your closets and secret stashes and bring us your most hideous piece of fabric.

As an added incentive for submitting an entry in the contest you will also receive 10% off any new fabric purchase you make on the day you submit.

So what do I win?

Well other than then the admiration, respect and jealousy of your fabric hoarding peers. The winner will receive a $250 Gift Certificate to U-Fab, a hideous trophy and of your fabric will be on permanent display at U-Fab.

Since beauty is subjective how will the winner be determined?

Once we have all the entries submitted we will leave it up to our customers to decide who's fabric is truly the ugliest. You will be able to view the entries and vote at U-Fab between March 2nd -26th. You will also be able to vote on our website during these days. We will then announce the winner on Saturday March 27th.

The Rules

The rules are pretty simple:

- One (1) entry per person

- Fabric must be a 12" x 12" square

- Any weight or type of textile is fine as long as it's ugly

- All entries must be received by March 1st-26th, 2010

- You can either mail or bring your fabric to U-Fab.

-You must be willing to part with your ugly fabric.

What if I don’t have any ugly fabric?

Get creative

-Cut up an old dress, jacket or duvet.
-Buy some fabric at a thrift store
-Or even better, go to your crazy aunt's house (come on we all have one) and see what she has lying around.
